Umamusume Sponsors the Motul Grand Prix of Japan
The horse girls are going to a motorcycle race. Umamusume: Pretty Derby has announced an official sponsorship of MotoGP’s 2026 Motul Grand Prix of Japan, complete with a 155 meter trackside sign featuring Oguri Cap, Tamamo Cross, Daiwa Scarlet and other fan favorites.
The franchise that keeps finding new tracks
Umamusume has spent the last few years turning from a niche mobile game into one of Japan’s biggest multimedia properties, and the crossover logic here is almost too neat: a series built entirely on racing, sponsoring a race. The anime side has been on a hot streak since the Road to the Top and the Cinderella Gray adaptation, and the global launch of the game brought in a wave of overseas fans who never expected to care about the Japanese Derby.
A MotoGP sponsorship signals how far the brand has moved into mainstream Japanese culture. This is the kind of partnership normally reserved for beverage companies and automakers, not anime franchises.
What fans get
Beyond the giant sign, expect collaboration merchandise and in game tie ins around the race weekend. The sponsorship was reported by Anime Corner.
My take: Oguri Cap on a MotoGP banner is peak 2026 anime. The franchise earned its way into rooms it was never invited to, and I respect it.
