Hunter x Hunter 414: Gon and Killua Finally Return
It finally happened. Hunter x Hunter Chapter 414 brings Gon and Killua back into the story. The fandom has not been this loud in years. The two faces of the franchise had been gone from the page for over a decade. Now they close out the chapter, and it feels like a real event. Here is what goes down.

Hunter x Hunter 414 spoilers: the return
The chapter is titled around friendship, and it ends on the two names everyone wanted. This is Gon’s first manga appearance since 2014. Killua’s absence ran even longer. So twelve years of waiting pays off in a couple of quiet, perfect panels. Gon gazes out over a wide landscape, ready for a new adventure. Killua looks calm and happy, spending easy time with Alluka.

Kurapika sets up their return. In a heartfelt moment with Queen Oito, he swears on his life that he has friends he trusts more than himself. The chapter lets you connect the dots to Gon and Killua. One note for the die hards, though. The chapter never shows Kurapika contacting them. It also does not confirm that they will join the Succession Contest. It is a tease, and a masterful one.

The Succession War turns deadly
The arc also gets much darker here. Martial law kicks in, and Benjamin’s soldiers start making violent moves. One of them cuts down sleeping guards in cold blood, then a member of the Hunter Association spots him. Elsewhere, Prince Luzurus does the math. Any resistance would just hand the military an excuse for a slaughter, so he orders everyone to surrender. Kurapika stays fixed on protecting the infant Prince Woble, sure that she is still a target.

Where to read Hunter x Hunter Chapter 414
Yoshihiro Togashi draws Hunter x Hunter for Shueisha. You can read the official English chapters on Viz Media and MANGA Plus. Both offer a selection for free before you subscribe. So there is no reason to chase a shady scan site for one of the most talked about chapters of the year.

My take: Togashi knows exactly what he is doing. He held Gon and Killua back for twelve years. Then he brought them back not with a power up but with two calm, content little moments. That is the emotional gut punch only this series can pull off. Gon looking out at a new horizon, Killua finally at peace, it tells you everything about where their arcs landed. I will gently manage expectations, since the chapter stops short of confirming they join the war. Even so, as a fan who waited this long, I am not complaining about a single panel.
