Haikyuu Returns With Two Movies Arriving in 2027
Volleyball’s greatest anime is not done yet. Two new Haikyuu movies are in production and set to release in 2027: The Place Where Monsters Go and VS The Little Giant, both confirmed during this summer’s Anime Expo.
The road to the ending
The film series continues the plan that began with Battle at the Garbage Dump, adapting the final stretch of the manga on the big screen rather than through another television season. The two new films carry Karasuno’s story through the matches longtime readers have been waiting years to see animated, including the confrontation teased in the title VS The Little Giant.
The theatrical approach has treated the franchise well so far, giving the matches film level animation and packing theaters worldwide. Two films arriving in the same year suggests Production I.G wants to land the ending while the momentum is hot.

My take: Haikyuu earned the right to end in theaters. No sports anime has ever made ordinary matches feel this cinematic, and the finale deserves the biggest screen available.
