FanimeCon Is Launching Manga Ichiba a New Dojinshi Event in 2026
FanimeCon has announced it will launch Manga Ichiba in 2026, a dedicated event for artists who create and sell self-published comics. The event centers on dōjinshi, the Japanese term for self-published creative works, with a focus on English-language creators.
According to organizers, Manga Ichiba will be North America’s first dedicated event of its kind for English-language dōjinshi. A website for the event has already gone live with more information for interested artists and attendees.
FanimeCon is based in San Jose, California, and its 2025 convention ran May 23 through 26 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Manga Ichiba would give self-publishing creators a dedicated space within that community.
My take: A focused event specifically for English-language dōjinshi is a great idea. The self-published side of anime and manga culture has always had a passionate community, and giving it its own dedicated space at a major convention feels long overdue.
