Yona of the Dawn Manga Ending in December 2025 After 15 Years of Serialization
After more than 15 years of serialization, Mizuho Kusanagi’s fantasy romance manga Yona of the Dawn is coming to an end. The final chapter will appear in the second 2026 issue of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine, which publishes on December 19, 2025. The series had been on hiatus since July 2025 before returning on October 3.
To mark the finale, several upcoming Hana to Yume issues will include special bonus items. The 24th 2025 issue will come with a shikishi style illustration card and an alternate cover for the manga Spring Storm and Monster. The first 2026 issue will include a set of 16 original art reproductions, and the second 2026 issue, which contains the final chapter, will be packaged with an acrylic stand featuring new artwork. Animate will also offer an A4-size acrylic plate as a separate goodie with the second 2026 issue for visitors to its stores. Original art reproductions have been included with Hana to Yume issues from October 3 through December 19 as part of an ongoing Animate exclusive campaign.
Yona of the Dawn began serialization in the 17th 2009 issue of Hana to Yume. The story follows Yona, a red-haired princess who flees the palace after an unexpected murder shatters her sheltered life and forces her to confront a world she was never prepared for. The manga inspired a 24-episode TV anime directed by Kazuhiro Yoneda at Studio Pierrot, which aired from October 2014 to March 2015. VIZ Media publishes the physical volumes in English.
My take: Yona of the Dawn has been a remarkably consistent and emotionally mature series over its long run, and it deserves a proper send-off. The bonus items Hakusensha is packaging with the final chapter feel like a genuine celebration of how much this manga has meant to readers. If you have not read it, there is still time to catch up before December.
