Udon Entertainment Brings Mega Man Adventures Deluxe Edition to Crowdfunding
Udon Entertainment has announced that its upcoming release of Mega Man Adventures will include a special Deluxe Edition available exclusively through a crowdfunding campaign on Zoop. The first volume collects the opening 12 issues of the Archie Comics Mega Man series, along with a brand new seven-page story by original writer Ian Flynn and artist Ryan Jampole. A launch date for the campaign has not yet been announced.
The Deluxe Edition of the first volume comes with a foil cover, nine trading cards, and a folded poster. The standard edition of the book will also be available outside of the crowdfunding campaign.
Ian Flynn wrote the Archie Comics Mega Man series, which ran from 2011 to 2015. The Mega Man franchise, known as Rockman in Japan, began with CAPCOM’s original 1987 release on the Nintendo Famicom and has grown into one of gaming’s most recognized series.
My take: The Archie Mega Man comics have a devoted following, and Flynn’s run is genuinely well regarded among fans of the franchise. Packaging it with a new exclusive story and collectible extras through crowdfunding is a smart way to give longtime readers something worth picking up even if they already have the individual issues.
