TOKYOPOP Launches New Merchandise for Anime and Manga Fans
TOKYOPOP has launched a new line of branded merchandise featuring popular anime, manga, and manhwa properties. The lineup includes advent calendars, playing cards, SD figurines, and tote bags for series including Attack on Titan, Dr. Stone, Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Sword Art Online, On or Off, and Star Crossed.
Two advent calendars anchor the holiday offerings. The Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Official Advent Calendar ($39.99, available October 7) is a 25-day calendar filled with collectible items like buttons, sticky notes, coasters, mini booklets, and pencils, all designed to be kept and displayed year-round. The Sword Art Online Official Advent Calendar ($39.99, also October 7) features exclusive items including cards, acrylic stands, badges, and stickers, themed around Kirito and Asuna.
For fans of the manhwa On or Off, TOKYOPOP is offering two SD figurines: a Daehyung figure ($23.99) and a Yiyoung figure ($23.99), both available now. Each stands about 3.15 inches tall, and when placed side by side the two figures hold hands, a nod to the series’ slow-burn romance between the cool startup executive and his enthusiastic employee.
The playing card collection covers several popular series. Attack on Titan, Dr. Stone, and Tokyo Ghoul each get their own poker-sized card sets at $12.99, available for pre-order with a December 2 release date. A retail display edition ($199.99) bundles 16 card sets from across the manga lineup including Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Dr. Stone, and Fairy Tail. Rounding out the new arrivals is the Star Crossed Tote Bag ($29.99), a limited edition double-sided bag featuring King Polaris and his knight Yildun, available exclusively from TOKYOPOP.com.
My take: The advent calendars are a clever way to make seasonal merchandise that fans actually keep, and the On or Off figurines that hold hands when placed together is a detail that fans of that series will genuinely appreciate. A solid lineup for the holiday run-up.
