The Great Jahy Creator Launches a New Harem Comedy Manga
The 45th issue of Shueisha’s Young Jump revealed on Thursday that manga creator Wakame Konbu is launching a new series, Watashi no Koto Suki Janakatta ka yo!?, which translates to something like Wait, So You Don’t Like Me?!. It begins in the magazine in February 2026.
The magazine teases it as a harem romantic comedy built on mistaken assumptions and characters who think rather too highly of themselves.
The story follows a boy named Okabe, who has firmly resolved to focus on his studies through high school. His plans are complicated when he finds himself surrounded by girls who keep acting suggestively toward him.
Konbu is best known for The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!, the comedy that became a popular anime and is published in English by Square Enix Manga Books, as well as The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious, which also received its own anime.
With a track record in lighthearted comedy, Konbu seems well suited to this new misunderstanding driven romp.
My take: Konbu has a real knack for warm, silly comedy, so a romp full of mutual misunderstandings sounds like a good fit. A diligent student constantly thrown off balance is a fun setup to build laughs around.
