The Final Season Episode 2 Is So Good, It’s Unreal
Warning: This article contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 8, Episode #2.
My Hero Academia: Final Season has arrived in full force, releasing an episode that is not only gut-wrenching but also fixes one of the manga’s most controversial moments. My Hero Academia Season 8 Episode #2, does more than pick up the story amidst the fierce battle between All Might and All for One; it has redefined the series.
The final stretch of My Hero Academia‘s anime has been characterized by its jaw-dropping animation, but Studio Bones has gone a step further with the perfect direction, composition, and soundtrack to do justice to All Might’s fateful moment. Moreover, My Hero Academia Season 8 has surpassed its manga, going from a controversial “fake death” to the series’ most heartfelt episode.
My Hero Academia Marks the End of an Era for All Might in New Episode
All Might’s death has been hinted at since My Hero Academia Season 4, thanks to Nighteye’s foresight. Therefore, it’s only fair to expect Studio Bones to pull out all the stops in the episode that seemed to foreshadow the horrific end of the symbol of peace. However, All Might exceeded expectations by escaping death’s door several times in the episode.
While the overuse of “fake deaths” is often criticized in shōnen anime, My Hero Academia made the most of it, presenting those influenced by All Might in a meticulous and impactful way. From the hero killer Stain to the armored A.I. Hercules and the X-66 squad, their sacrifice bought a little more time for All Might.
But instead of feeling repetitive or a way to drag out the story, the anime conveyed All for One’s terrifying powers seamlessly, maintaining the tension throughout the episode, as well as showing the persistence of a wounded hero with All Might clinging to life and trying to sacrifice himself to leave the rest to the next generation.
Katsuki Bakugo’s Revival Is Now One of the Best Moments in My Hero Academia’s Anime
In this dire situation, My Hero Academia resurrected Katsuki Bakugo. However, while in the manga, his resurrection was criticized for seeming forced and too convenient, thanks to the anime’s buildup, Bakugo’s revival became an incredibly emotional sequence. Likewise, Bakugo’s return feels justified, as one of the greatest examples of All Might’s legacy is now the one who can save him.
Thanks to the dedication and passion of the anime’s production team, one of the manga’s most controversial deaths turned into the best scene in the franchise. The anime successfully demonstrated the message of heroism and never giving up in the face of adversity, raising the bar for what’s to come in My Hero Academia‘s Final War.
It’s no surprise that My Hero Academia Season 8, Episode 2, currently has a 9.7 rating on IMDb, placing it in the top 5 for the franchise. My Hero Academia has already cemented itself as one of the best anime of Fall 2025 and is poised to be among the top of the year as its finale approaches.
