Tekken 8 Adds Miary Zo as DLC Character on December 4
Bandai Namco Entertainment has a new fighter on the way for Tekken 8. In a fresh trailer released on Sunday, the company revealed that DLC character Miary Zo will join the roster on December 4, with early access opening a few days sooner on December 1.
Arriving alongside Miary is a new stage called Baobab Horizon. Miary is the fourth character announced for the Season 2 Character and Stage Pass, following Anna Williams on March 31 and Fahkumram on July 11, with returning fighter Armor King also joining on Monday.
For a bit of context, Tekken 8 launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam in January 2024 with 32 characters on day one. It crossed 2 million copies sold worldwide by February, and its story picks up nearly six months after the events of Tekken 7.
The series keeps building on a remarkably long history. Guinness World Records recognizes Tekken as having the longest running narrative in video game history. Since launch, the game has welcomed Eddy Gordo in April 2024 as its first DLC fighter, then Lidia Sobieska, Heihachi Mishima, and even Clive Rosfield, the hero of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI, in December 2024.
Fans of the wider franchise may also recall Tekken: Bloodline, the anime that retells the story of Tekken 3, which premiered on Netflix in August 2022.
My take: It is great to see Tekken 8 still getting fresh faces this deep into its run, and a brand new fighter like Miary Zo is exactly how a roster stays exciting.
