Shonen Jump’s Two New Action Anime to Watch in 2026
Shonen Jump is sending two fresh action titles our way in 2026, and both bring a clever twist to the usual shounen formula. The magazine that gave us One Piece, Naruto, and Jujutsu Kaisen is backing Marriagetoxin and Kill Blue.
Marriagetoxin began on the Shonen Jump+ platform in 2022 and mixes romance, family drama, and assassin style action. It follows Hikaru Gero, heir to a family of poison assassins, who must protect his sister from an unwanted fate while juggling duty, marriage, and dangerous rivals.
The adaptation is in the hands of Studio Bones, the team behind Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Mob Psycho 100, with Motonobu Hori directing and Taisei Iwasaki on music. Haruki Ishiya voices Hikaru and Shion Wakayama plays Mei.
Kill Blue comes from Tadatoshi Fujimaki, the creator of Kuroko’s Basketball, and its premise is delightfully odd. A 40 year old hitman named Juzo Ogami is suddenly turned into a 12 year old after a strange genetic accident involving a wasp, and now he has to survive middle school while keeping his assassin instincts in check.
That one is produced by Studio CUE, directed by Hiro Kaburagi, with character designs by Miho Daidoji.
My take: Both premises make me smile. A poison assassin caught up in marriage troubles and a deadly hitman stuck in a schoolboy’s body are exactly the kind of high concept hooks that make shounen so much fun to follow.
