Please Tell Me! Galko-chan Manga Resumes Serialization
Kadokawa’s ComicWalker announced that it has resumed serialization of Kenya Suzuki’s manga Please Tell Me! Galko-chan, with the series now running on the Web Comic Apanda platform. The move comes nearly four years after the manga was put on hold.
ComicWalker had suspended the series in December 2021, following news reports surrounding its creator. On the same day, Aichi Prefectural Police arrested Suzuki, then 40, on suspicion of possessing child pornography imported from overseas, in violation of Japan’s Customs Act.
According to reports at the time, the material had been received by international mail in 2020, and police confiscated dozens of books and publications from his residence as part of the case.
Please Tell Me! Galko-chan first began on ComicWalker in 2014, after Suzuki initially posted it on social media, and it later reached five collected volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in North America, and it inspired a television anime that aired in early 2015.
With the suspension now lifted, the series returns to ongoing publication on its new platform.
My take: This is a difficult situation, and the circumstances behind the original suspension are serious ones. I will simply note the news here and leave readers to form their own views on the manga’s return.
