Netflix’s 2024 Hit Anime Finds a New Home on Crunchyroll — But There’s a Catch

It’s been over a year since Delicious in Dungeon released its entire first season. The hit Netflix anime series generated a perfect critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for 16 awards at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. While fans anticipate the release of Season 2, Crunchyroll has announced that Delicious in Dungeon will be available on its platform… through its manga library.

The anime streaming giant has announced the arrival of Crunchyroll Manga, allowing North American subscribers to access their favorite titles, including Delicious in Dungeon. Other titles that are available to read on the digital manga platform are One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, The Apothecary Diaries, My Happy Marriage, and Spy x Family, just to name a few.

While the official anime adaptation remains a Netflix exclusive, Crunchyroll is now giving fans a glimpse into what happens next as the Laois Party continues its quest to find the Mad Mage and save his sister. It has been confirmed that a second season is in production, but a release date has yet to be announced.

What Is ‘Delicious in Dungeon’ About?

Delicious in Dungeon is a fantasy series based on a 2014 manga series by Ryoko Kui, which follows Laios Touden (Kentarō Kumagai/Damien Haas), who enters the dungeon to save his sister, Falin (Saori Hayami/Lisa Reimold), who was eaten by a red dragon. After two of his party members leave the group, it’s up to him, Marcille (Sayaka Senbongi/Emily Rudd), Chilchuck (Asuna Tomari/Casey Mongillo), and Senshi (Hiroshi Naka/SungWon Cho) to get through the dungeon and eat as many monsters as they can to stay alive.

Season 1 has released 24 episodes throughout 2024, covering the first seven story arcs, introducing the characters and sharing some of their backstory, revealing who the Mad Mage was, and how this dungeon came to be. Since then, the show has been highly praised by fans and critics alike, generating a perfect 100% critics’ score and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the anime received numerous nominations at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year, but was unable to take home any awards. Regardless, Netflix has greenlit a second season, and a post from the show’s official social media account has revealed that it entered production in September 2024.
