My Home Hero Authors Launch New Manga in Young Magazine Next Spring
The creators of My Home Hero, writer Naoki Yamakawa and artist Masashi Asaki, are launching a new manga in Kodansha’s Young Magazine next spring. The announcement was made in the magazine’s 48th issue. The title has not yet been revealed.
Yamakawa and Asaki ran My Home Hero in Young Magazine from May 2017 to July 2024, wrapping the story at 26 volumes. Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the series in English. The anime adaptation debuted in April 2024 and was streamed by Crunchyroll with an English dub. The manga follows an ordinary salaryman father who kills a dangerous man to protect his daughter and then uses his deep knowledge of crime fiction to cover it up.
The series built a strong following for its tense domestic thriller premise and genuinely surprising plotting across its run. A new project from the same team starting in Young Magazine is the kind of announcement that generates immediate interest.
My take: My Home Hero was one of the more gripping manga of its era and the team behind it clearly knows how to build sustained tension across a long story. Whatever direction they go next, the Young Magazine readership will be paying close attention. Spring cannot come soon enough.
