Misato Matsuoka Cast as “Legendary Idol” in You and Idol Precure Anime Film

Voice actress Misato Matsuoka has been announced to be voicing a “legendary idol” for the upcoming You and Idol Precure anime film, Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure ♪Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakki Live! The latest anime film entry in the Pretty Cure series will premiere in Japan on September 12, 2025.  

Matsuoka, who also voices You and Idol Precure’s main heroine Uta Sakura/Cure Idol in the film, will voice the unnamed “legendary idol” character (pictured below) who Anime News Network writes will have an “important role in the film.”

Koji Ogawa (the Precure All Star NewStage2 and Precure All Star NewStage3 films) is directing the You and Idol Precure anime film, with Nishiki Itaoka (Precure All Stars F) as character designer and chief animation director, and Hiroyuki Yoshino (The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe) as scriptwriter. Toei Animation is in charge of the animation production. 

Some new cast additions for the You and Idol Precure anime film that were previously announced include Maaya Uchida as Tera, Ayane Sakura as Amas, and Atsuhiro Tsuda as Totto. 

Meanwhile, the other main voice cast for the You and Idol Precure TV anime series returning in the new film (besides Matsuoka) includes Minami Takahashi as Cure Wink/Nana Aokaze and Natsumi Takamori as Cure Kyun Kyun/Kokoro Shigure. 

The premise of Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure ♪Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakki Live! follows the hosting of the universe’s top idol festival on AiAi Island, which gets complicated by the appearance of mysterious monsters. The new film will also feature appearances from Wonderful Precure! and Soaring Sky! Precure characters.

The You and Idol TV anime series is the most recent and 22nd overall entry in the Pretty Cure magical girl franchise, with the show airing in Japan in February 2025. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime series worldwide, and describes the main premise as:

Middle school student Uta Sakura loves to sing any chance she gets. But music becomes more than a hobby when she meets Purirun, a fairy whose hometown has plunged into darkness. The Chokkiri Gang took over her land and began stealing her people’s sparkle. Determined to help, Uta is transformed into the legendary protector Cure Idol and vows to return their sparkle through song.
