Kodansha USA Unveils Its Fall 2026 Releases at NYCC
Kodansha USA Publishing used its New York Comic Con panel on Friday to announce a slate of new releases planned for fall 2026, with a real range of titles for different kinds of readers.
The crown jewel is an art book, Masamune Shirow: Artwork in the Shell. Spanning the artist’s 40 year career from Dominion and Ghost in the Shell through Appleseed and Intron Depot, this 288 page hardcover gathers his color work into what is being called the most spectacular presentation of it yet, drawn from a major retrospective exhibition held in Tokyo.
Fans of a long running favorite are covered too, as the lineup includes Cells at Work! Cat and a Cells at Work! picture book, extending one of Kodansha’s most charming franchises.
There is plenty more across genres, from the fantasy When a Dragon Calls and a print omnibus of Erin the Beast Player to a selection of romance titles like You Might As Well Be the One.
Collectors get something special as well, with a Gachiakuta box set rounding out the announcement.
My take: That Masamune Shirow art book sounds like an absolute treasure, and the kind of release that justifies clearing a shelf for it. It is a lovely, varied slate, but the retrospective is the one I would grab first.
