Attack on Titan Gets an Official Roblox Game Mode

Kodansha Creators’ Lab brought a playable demo of an official Attack on Titan game mode for Roblox to this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which ran from September 25 through 28. The demo shown at the event was a beta build developed by independent game studio Twin Atlas.

According to a Kodansha Creators’ Lab representative at the show, the official game mode is being built specifically to address the problem of unauthorized Attack on Titan experiences that have appeared within Roblox. Rather than simply trying to take down unofficial versions, the company decided to commission an authorized alternative.

Twin Atlas was chosen through a contest held in late 2024. Three finalists were announced in mid-December of that year: Twin Atlas, Bulk Games, and Ambr x Moze. No release date for the finished game mode has been announced yet.

Separately, American video game company Gamefam Studios launched a new Roblox experience called My Hero Academia: Ultimate on September 6, based on the popular anime series.

My take: Creating an official version to crowd out the unauthorized ones is a genuinely smart approach, and it sounds like Kodansha is being thoughtful about how to bring Attack on Titan into Roblox the right way. Curious to see what Twin Atlas delivers.
