Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary Horror Anime Reveals January 2026 Premiere with New Trailer and Visual
The upcoming horror TV anime Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary is set to premiere in January 2026. Along with the announcement, a new trailer and key visual have been released, offering a first look at the supernatural kindergarten chaos to come.
Based on Tarō Yuri’s manga of the same name, the story follows Kaya, a notorious kindergartener known for causing trouble — except her antics come from battling evil spirits only she can see. While most teachers think she’s just misbehaving, her new instructor Chie-sensei soon realises there’s more to Kaya’s behaviour than meets the eye.
The anime is directed by Hiroshi Ikehata at East Fish Studio. Azusa Tachibana voices Kaya-chan, and Maaya Uchida plays Chie-sensei.
Additional cast members include:
- Yuki Kaji as Namu
- Fukushi Ochiai as Mobuo
- Azusa Tadokoro as Akira-sensei
- Shiori Izawa as Chihiro-sensei
Shigeru Murakoshi will handle the series composition, with Taro Yamada and Hiroyuki Moriguchi serving as character designers. The music is composed by Kohta Yamamoto and Shun Narita.
The manga is currently serialised on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website and has been collected into seven volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the series in English.
