Iron Blooded Orphans Marks 10 Years With NYCC Gundam Event
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans is turning ten, and Bandai Namco Filmworks is marking the occasion at New York Comic Con 2025. The studio announced on Friday that director Tatsuyuki Nagai will appear for a free autograph session on October 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tamashii Nations booth.
Fans who attend will receive a signed poster featuring new Barbatos Rises at NYC artwork by mechanical designer Naohiro Washio, and may bring one personal item for signing, subject to staff approval. The day also includes a range of giveaways and a fan meet up that evening at 7:30 p.m. in Room 1E05. The convention itself runs from October 9 to 12 at the Javits Center.
Bandai Namco Filmworks is following the convention with a Gundam film festival at Japan Society on October 11 and 12, screening films with English dubs. It opens with Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, and the second day pairs a 4K screening of Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz with Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, plus talk shows featuring English voice actors Mark Hildreth, Megan Shipman and Aaron B. Phillips. Tickets run 25 dollars for the first day and 60 dollars for the second.
There is new animation on the way as well. The Urdr Hunt special edition, subtitled Path of the Little Challenger and spun off from the original series, opens in Japanese theaters on October 31 with a North American release planned. A new anniversary short called Makuai no Kusabi will screen alongside it.
My take: Ten years on, Iron Blooded Orphans still stirs strong feelings, and it is nice to see it honored with both creators and fans in the room. If you have never met Mikazuki and Orga, this anniversary is a fine nudge to start.
