The romance manga Hana-kun Can’t Live without Me is now available to read in English on K Manga. Created by Ameko, the story originally debuted on the josei manga app Palcy in May 2024 and has since built a following for its cozy, low-key emotional setup.

The story follows Kaede Yoshino, an office worker two years into her career who has completely burned out from the daily grind. On what she considers the worst day of her life, under a moonlit sky, she stumbles upon a warm, soft-looking boy she ends up taking home. He introduces himself as Hana-kun and says he has nowhere to go, so the two begin living together on what is meant to be a temporary arrangement. As their days together pass, Kaede starts to rediscover a quiet warmth she had forgotten. And then an unexpected revelation about who Hana-kun really is changes everything.

K Manga currently has 28 chapters available, counting split chapter parts. The manga has been collected into three compiled volumes in Japan, with the third volume releasing on October 10, 2025. Ameko received an Excellence Award at the 45th Dessert Shinjin Manga Taisho award.

My take: There is something genuinely appealing about a romance that starts from a place of exhaustion rather than excitement. Kaede is not looking for love — she is barely keeping herself together — and that vulnerability makes the setup feel more grounded and human than the usual meet cute. This one is worth checking out on K Manga if soft, slow-building romance is your thing.
