Gundam Holds Its First Global Multilingual Fan Poll
The Gundam franchise is inviting fans everywhere to weigh in on their favorites. To celebrate the relaunch of its official website, the series announced its first ever Global Gundam Poll, open to fans worldwide.
The poll is notably international, offered in ten languages, including English, French, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Thai, and several forms of Chinese, with more on the way. Fans can vote once a day for their favorite Gundam type mobile suits until December 25.
It is a thorough ballot, featuring 233 units pulled from 34 different television series, original video anime projects, and films. The poll even breaks out individual variants and upgrades, so different versions of suits like the Strike Gundam and Unicorn Gundam each get their own entry.
Interest has been strong out of the gate, with more than 257,000 votes already cast. The final results are due to be revealed next spring.
The poll lives on the new Gundam Official website, which launched on October 8 as a central hub linking to each series, along with news, streaming, and merchandise.
My take: A truly global, multilingual poll is a lovely nod to just how worldwide the Gundam fanbase has become. Picking a single favorite from decades of designs sounds delightfully impossible.
