Godzilla Monument Takes Over Haneda Airport Terminal 3

Godzilla is about to greet travelers in a very big way. The franchise’s official X account announced on Friday that the King of the Monsters will take over the international Terminal 3 at Haneda Airport, teasing a “massive new monument dedicated to the King of the Monsters.”

The display is part of the Haneda Godzilla Global Project, and the team shared mockup images to give fans a first look. The centerpiece is a Godzilla monument measuring 131 feet wide and 20 feet tall, which will stand in the Terminal 3 Departure Lobby.

Arriving visitors get their own welcome too. The Arrival Lobby is set to feature Godzilla graphics along with a statue inspired by the Academy Award winning film Godzilla Minus One.

According to the announcement, the monument, graphics, and statue are scheduled to appear at Haneda in late December 2025 and will stay on display through late December 2026. That gives travelers a full year to catch the King of the Monsters on their way in or out of Japan.

My take: Landing in a country and being met by a towering Godzilla sounds like a genuinely fun welcome, and it is a sweet nod to how much the character means to Japan.
