To Your Eternity Season 3 Episode 4 Review

It still feels strange to watch Fushi caught up in a modern murder scandal. The being at the heart of To Your Eternity has lived alongside death for a very long time, yet there is something different about seeing it move through a present day Japanese apartment touched by violence. The shift in setting for Part 2 gives the show a fresh way to revisit its familiar themes.

This stretch of the story leans on Mizuha, who took her own mother’s life and then turned to Fushi in fear, asking for his friendship. Without knowing it, she echoes patterns that reach far back into the show’s history, which gives her plea a quiet weight.

Much of the episode follows the two of them lying low together. They talk about small everyday things like bubble tea and modern food, even as the truth of what Mizuha has done sits between them. That blend of soft, sad, and unsettling is very much in keeping with this series.

By the end it is clear the season is not going to settle into a calm school life routine. Only four episodes in, a truly normal life feels out of reach for Fushi and the people around him, and that tension is part of what keeps the story moving.

My take: I love that this season keeps Fushi off balance. The quiet everyday moments make the heavier ones land harder, and that gentle honesty is why I keep coming back each week.
