Bungou Stray Dogs Wan Gets a Second Season in 2026

The Bungou Stray Dogs Wan! anime is coming back for a second season. The official site announced the news along with a teaser visual and a short promo video. The new season is set to premiere sometime in 2026.

Most of the core creative team is returning, including director Toshihiro Kikuchi and character designer Hiromi Daimi. Several new collaborators are joining alongside them. Touko Machida takes over series composition, Azusa Sasaki steps in for color design, and Hibiki Nagatomo joins as art director. Taku Iwasaki continues handling the music, and Bones and Nomad are back as the producing studios.

The main cast is also returning in full. Yuuto Uemura voices Atsushi Nakajima, Mamoru Miyano is Osamu Dazai, Yoshimasa Hosoya plays Doppo Kunikida, Sumire Morohoshi voices Kyouka Izumi, Kensho Ono is Ryuunosuke Akutagawa, and Kishou Taniyama returns as Chuuya Nakahara.

The first season ran for 12 episodes in early 2021 and was based on Neco Kanai’s spin-off manga. That series has been running in Young Ace UP magazine since December 2015 and now has 14 collected volumes. The original Bungou Stray Dogs manga by Kafka Asagiri and Harukawa35 began in Young Ace in December 2012 and has reached its 27th volume.

Yen Press holds the English licenses for both manga series. The 25th volume of the main manga and the 12th volume of the spin-off both came out recently.

My take: Bungou Stray Dogs Wan! is one of those spin-offs that earns its place by being genuinely fun on its own terms rather than just coasting on the main series. Getting a second season with most of the original team intact feels like a well-deserved return.
