Bad Girl Anime English Dub Launches on HIDIVE With Monica Rial as Lead

HIDIVE has revealed the English dub cast for Bad Girl, the anime adaptation of Nikumaru’s manga. The dub premiered Wednesday. Monica Rial voices lead character Yuu Yuutani, Luci Christian plays Atori Mizutori, Kira Vincent-Davis is Suzu Suzukaze, Brittney Karbowski voices Rura Ruriha, and Katelyn Barr plays Kiyoraka Sumiki. Kyle Colby Jones is directing the dub.

The anime debuted in Japan on July 5 and has been streaming on HIDIVE as it aired. The story follows Yuu, a first year high school student whose piercings and two-tone hair give her the look of a classic delinquent. In reality she is completely wholesome and simply wants to get close to Atori, the school’s most admired student. To reinvent herself and catch Atori’s attention, Yuu leaves the student council and tries to build a new reputation.

Monica Rial is a natural fit for Yuu’s particular brand of earnest determination, and the rest of the dub cast brings strong HIDIVE voices to the supporting roles.

My take: Bad Girl has been one of the more charming comedies of the season, and having Monica Rial anchor the dub is great news. Yuu’s sincerity and barely contained anxiety are very much in Rial’s wheelhouse. If you have been waiting for the English version before starting, now is the time.
