Visual Novel Studio sprite Teases New Game Coming in 2026 for 15th Anniversary
Visual novel developer sprite has opened a 15th anniversary website and used the occasion to tease that a new game is in development with a planned 2026 launch. No title, platforms, or further details have been shared yet. The timing of the announcement matches the exact 15th anniversary of the studio’s debut title, Love, Elections and Chocolate, which launched on October 29, 2010.
sprite is best known internationally for AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue, which launched on PC in November 2014 and was later ported to PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It received a television anime from GONZO that premiered in January 2016. The studio also released Everlasting Flowers, and both AOKANA and Everlasting Flowers have official English releases, meaning sprite already has an established international readership.
Love, Elections and Chocolate also inspired a television anime in 2012, and the studio has maintained a consistent presence in the visual novel space across its 15 years. A new game in 2026 is the studio’s first announced project in some time.
My take: AOKANA built a devoted and passionate following for its flying sports setting and heartfelt storytelling, and sprite has shown genuine care for their English speaking audience. Whatever comes next, there is a real community ready to receive it warmly. The 15th anniversary tease is a lovely way to open that conversation.
