Sazae san Anime Gets Its First Arcade Game
Konami and ADK Emotions shared some fun news on Friday. Konami is putting out the very first arcade game in the long running Sazae san franchise, and it is called Sazae san Machigai Sagashi, or Sazae san Spot the Difference.
The game is planned for spring 2026. As the name suggests, players study two pictures and try to find the differences between them. It comes with a single player mode, a versus mode for two players, and a challenge mode to test your eye.
Konami will show the game off at the Amusement Expo 2025 event on November 15, so fans should get an early look at how it plays before the wider release.
Sazae san itself has been a fixture of Japanese television for a very long time. Based on Machiko Hasegawa’s gentle family manga, the anime first aired in October 1969 and is usually the top rated animated series in Japan each week. It earned a Guinness World Record in 2013 for the longest running animated television series and extended that record in 2019.
My take: There is something charming about such a beloved, cozy series getting its first arcade game after all these years. A relaxed spot the difference game feels like a perfect fit for it.
