Let’s Go Kaikigumi Horror Comedy Manga Gets a 2026 Anime
Horror comedy fans have a fun new adaptation to look forward to. A website opened on Saturday, complete with a teaser promotional video, to announce that Byū’s manga Let’s Go Kaikigumi is getting a television anime next year.

The setup is charmingly odd. Everything kicks off the day a timid, unnamed young man crosses paths with Mechako, the leader of the Kaikigumi, an organization in charge of all the ghosts and supernatural creatures that frighten humans. He ends up helping revive the group, and from then on one strange, though never truly scary, phenomenon keeps cropping up around him.
For the voices, Tasuku Hatanaka plays the unnamed protagonist and Ruriko Aoki voices Mechako, with veteran Shigeru Chiba handling narration.
Behind the camera, Yutaka Hirata, a unit director on STARMYU, is directing at studio C Station. Mutsumi Ito of ROOM CAMP is supervising and writing the series scripts, and Yoshimitsu Yamashita, known for Mushibugyō and Blade of the Immortal, is designing the characters. Uketsu, the writer behind Omocoro articles and the novel The Strange House, is helping with production and is credited for song collaboration.
The anime will air on TBS and 27 affiliated channels on Sunday evenings. Byū originally serialized the manga on the Omocoro web service from 2018 through 2024.
My take: A scaredy cat teaming up with the very creatures meant to spook people is such a warm, funny premise, and I am quietly hoping the anime keeps that cozy, not too scary tone.
