Are You a Landmine Chihara san Anime Set for January 2027

One of the most talked about romantic comedies in manga has a trailer and a date. Are You a Landmine, Chihara san? released its first teaser ahead of a January 2027 premiere. Studio SynergySP is animating, with Yasuaki Fujii directing and Keiichiro Ochi handling series composition.

The girl everyone is warned about

The premise turns the manic pixie trope inside out. Chihara is the classmate the rumor mill labels a landmine, the kind of girl who will supposedly blow up your life if you get close, and the story follows the boy who ignores the warnings and discovers the person underneath the reputation. It is a romance about how cruel a label can be, and the manga has drawn praise for taking that seriously without losing its comedy.

SynergySP and director Fujii are a workmanlike pairing rather than a prestige one, which fits a series that lives on dialogue and expressions instead of spectacle. Keiichiro Ochi’s scripts, on the other hand, have carried some very strong romantic comedies, and he is the name that matters here.

Winter 2027 keeps stacking

Chihara san joins Yaiba, Shangri La Frontier, Dengeki Daisy and SSS Class Revival Hunter in what is shaping up to be a loaded January. The teaser was reported by Anime Corner.

My take: Romantic comedies about reputation are the ones that stick, and Chihara san has one of the sharpest hooks in the genre. Quietly one of my most anticipated winter shows.
