Katekyo Hitman Reborn Releases Creditless Sakura Rock Ending
Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is having a month. As part of “REBORN! MUSIC MONTH,” the 20th anniversary campaign running through September, the official YouTube channel is uploading one creditless opening or ending from the original 2006 to 2010 anime every single day. The latest is the tenth ending, “Sakura Rock” by CHERRYBLOSSOM, the song that closed episodes 115 to 126 during the Future arc, now online without credits for the first time. Here is what the release is, the full list of what the campaign has put out, where the promised new anime project stands, and why an old ending theme is getting this much attention.

What was released
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Song | “Sakura Rock” by CHERRYBLOSSOM |
| Used as | Ending 10 of the original TV anime, episodes 115 to 126 (Future arc, 2009) |
| Posted | September 19, 2026 on the official Katekyo Hitman Reborn! YouTube channel, announced on the official X account |
| What is new | The creditless version, previously only on Japanese DVD and Blu ray, has never been officially online before |
| Same weekend | Opening 6 “EASY GO” by Kazuki Kato went up the day before, and ending 11 “Smile for…” by Aya Ueto followed the same day |
To be clear, because some coverage has muddled it: this is the original 2009 recording from the original series, not a re recording and not a new anime. The new Reborn anime project announced last December has no footage yet.
REBORN! MUSIC MONTH: the whole campaign
Pony Canyon announced the campaign on September 1. It has three parts. A 25 song playlist of every opening and ending from the anime went live on streaming services that day. From September 2, the YouTube channel has posted one creditless video a day. On September 27 there is a YouTube Premiere listening party for the character songs, covering discs 1 through 6 of the Official Character Song Complete Collection box set, and that stream will not be archived.
CHERRYBLOSSOM is the band fans associate most with the show. They did opening 3, “Dive to World,” ending 8, “CYCLE,” ending 10, “Sakura Rock,” and ending 13, “Yume no Manual.” The full ending list, for the record: “Michishirube” by Keita Tachibana, “ONE NIGHT STAR” by the arrows, “Echo again” by SPLAY, “friend” by Idoling!!!, “Sakura addiction” sung by Hibari and Mukuro’s voice actors, “STAND UP!” by Lead, “Ameato” by w inds., “CYCLE,” “Suberidai” by Mori Tsubasa, “Sakura Rock,” “Smile for…” by Aya Ueto, “Aoi Yume” by Mori Tsubasa, “Yume no Manual,” “Gr8 Story” by SuG, “Famiglia” by D 51 and “Canvas” by +Plus.

Where the new anime project stands
On December 19, 2025, the franchise announced its 20th anniversary lineup and, buried in it, “a new TV anime project” with “more details during 2026.” Nine months later there is still no studio, no director, no cast, no premiere date, and no word on whether it is a remake from the start or a continuation. That last question is the one fans argue about, because the original anime stopped after the Future arc and never adapted the Inheritance Ceremony, Simon, or Curse of the Rainbow arcs.
What has been released for the anniversary so far:
- A 20th anniversary visual by original character designer Masayoshi Tanaka, with Reborn, Tsuna, the tenth generation Vongola Guardians, Xanxus and Squalo of the Varia, and Byakuran.
- An anniversary PV cut to “Drawing days” and “LISTEN TO THE STEREO!!”
- Daily short videos covering all 203 episodes, running since January 4.
- An August episode popularity poll, with the winner revealed in November and streamed free for a week.
- MUSIC MONTH.

The franchise by the numbers
Akira Amano’s manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from May 2004 to November 2012, 42 volumes, over 30 million copies in circulation. In 2007 it was the tenth best selling series in the magazine and in 2008 it was Japan’s fourth best selling manga overall. The anime ran 203 episodes on TV Tokyo from October 7, 2006 to September 25, 2010, animated by Artland and directed by Kenichi Imaizumi. The original is streaming on Crunchyroll and, in English, on Remow’s “It’s Anime” YouTube channel.

My take: Nobody uploads sixteen year old ending themes one a day for a month unless they are warming up an audience for something, and I think the timing tells you what. The anniversary is October 2026. The “new TV anime project” was promised details “during 2026.” A daily drip of nostalgia through September, ending with a listening party on the 27th that will not be archived, is a countdown, and I would bet on the real announcement landing in October, probably with the popularity poll result in November as a second beat. The bigger question is what they announce, and here I will take a side: it should be a continuation, not a remake. The original anime has a real problem, which is that its first 20 episodes are a gag comedy that almost nobody recommends, but the Varia and Future arcs are among the best shonen television of their decade and they still hold up. Remaking those from scratch to fix the opening would be spending a fortune to re do what already works. Picking up at the Inheritance Ceremony with a modern studio gives the fans the three arcs they have waited fourteen years for and gives new viewers a reason to watch the old show first, which is exactly what the daily episode clips and the free stream are for. If Shueisha announces a remake, I will understand it, because remakes are what sells right now, but I think it is the smaller idea.
