Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! Confirmed for a Second Season in 2026
Good news for the lighter side of this franchise. The chibi spinoff Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! is coming back for a second season, simply titled Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! 2, and it is set to arrive in 2026.
Kadokawa made the announcement over the weekend, confirming that the television anime of Kanaineko’s spinoff manga will continue. To celebrate, Kanaineko also drew a special illustration to mark the reveal.
Most of the team is staying put. Toshihiro Kikuchi, who has episode direction credits on Vinland Saga and Great Pretender, returns from the first season to direct again at the studios BONES and Nomad. Yudai Hanaoka steps in as assistant director, and Toko Machida, known for Lucky Star among others, is back on the writing side. The returning cast is coming along too, so the voices you know will still be there.
If you are new to it, Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! is the cute, gag style take on the main Bungo Stray Dogs series created by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa, trading the usual drama for short, comedic slices of the characters just being silly.
My take: I have a soft spot for these chibi spinoffs. The main series can get heavy, so having a place to just watch these characters mess around is a nice balance, and the fact that the original cast and most of the staff are returning tells me they want to keep the same gentle charm. I will happily make room for more of it in 2026.
