Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Movie Adds 3D Screenings in India Starting October 31
Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc is expanding its theatrical run in India with new 3D screenings starting October 31. Sony Pictures India is handling the rollout. The film first opened in Indian theaters on September 26 with both Japanese and Hindi audio options.
The film opened in Japan on September 19, initially with midnight screenings at 12 theaters across Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido. It is also showing in MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema formats. Sony Pictures Entertainment holds worldwide theatrical rights.
The story picks up after Denji’s date with Makima. Caught in the rain, he steps into a café and meets Reze, a girl who works there. Reina Ueda voices Reze in the film.
The music lineup includes the ending theme “JANE DOE” performed by Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada, and “IRIS OUT” by Kenshi Yonezu as the main theme song. Maximum The Hormone’s “Hawatari Nioku Centi” appears as an insert song in a version described as the Estimated 70% Unredacted Edit. The earlier TV anime had used a shorter 90-second version of the track as the episode 3 ending, and the band has noted that the longer version was held back partly because the second half of the lyrics references Reze directly.
My take: The Reze Arc is one of the most beloved stretches in the Chainsaw Man manga, and it makes sense that Tatsuki Fujimoto’s quietly heartbreaking take on it would receive a proper theatrical treatment. The music choices alone make this feel like something worth catching on the big screen.
