2026 Doraemon Film Reveals Guests and February 27 Date
The staff behind the 2026 Doraemon film, Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil, announced two guest voice actors on Thursday, along with a February 27 premiere date.
Shōya Chiba will voice El, a soldier of the Mu Federation assigned to keep an eye on Doraemon and his friends once they reach the bottom of the sea. Ryō Hirohashi voices the Underwater Buggy, an amphibious vehicle that is one of Doraemon’s handy secret gadgets.
This marks the 45th film in the main 2D anime series, not counting the computer animated Stand By Me Doraemon movies, and it is a remake of the beloved 1983 film Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil.
Tetsuo Yajima, who has worked on several Pokémon films, returns to direct, with Isao Murayama writing the screenplay.
It follows the franchise’s most recent entry, Nobita’s Art World Tales, which opened earlier this year.
My take: Doraemon’s yearly films are a comforting tradition, and revisiting a classic undersea adventure for a new generation is a lovely idea. These movies have a timeless warmth that always wins me over.
