2.5 Dimensional Seduction Manga Will End in Four Chapters

The end is in sight for 2.5 Dimensional Seduction. Shueisha revealed in the 196th chapter of Yū Hashimoto’s manga, also known as 2.5 Jigen no Lilysa, that the series will wrap up in just four more chapters. New chapters run every other Saturday, with the next one due November 8.

Hashimoto launched the manga on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ site back in 2019, and it has grown into a real hit, with more than 1.7 million copies in circulation and its 24th volume released on October 3. The story moved into its final arc last month.

Seven Seas publishes the series in English under its Ghost Ship imprint. It follows Okumura, the president of his school’s manga club, who insists he has no interest in real girls and is devoted to a fictional 2D character named Lilliel. Things change when Lilysa, a cosplay loving classmate, joins the club and recruits him as her photographer, especially once he learns her favorite character happens to be the same one. From there the line between 2D and 3D starts to blur in a playful romantic comedy.

The franchise has spread well beyond the page. A television anime premiered in July 2024 and ran for two straight cours, a full half year, with HIDIVE streaming both the subtitled version and an English dub. A second season is also on the way.

There was a game as well. Aiming and Team Caravan built a cosplay battle role playing game called 2.5 Dimensional Seduction: Angels on Stage!, which launched on iOS and Android in September 2024 and on PC via Steam that October. The English and Simplified Chinese versions will shut down on January 14, though the Japanese version is staying online.

My take: Long running series like this earn a planned ending, and four chapters to land the finish feels right. With a second anime season coming, it is a good time to be a fan.
