Seihantai na Kimi to Boku Anime Adds New Cast
The team behind the television anime of Koucha Agasawa’s Seihantai na Kimi to Boku, known in English as You and I Are Polar Opposites, announced a new pair of cast members on Saturday. The romantic comedy is set to premiere in January 2026 at 5:00 p.m. on MBS and TBS.
Takakazu Nagatomo, an episode director on the Shoushimin Series, is directing at Lapin Track. Teruko Utsumi, known for Sarazanmai, is handling series composition and overseeing the animation, while Mako Miyako designs the characters and Tofubeats composes the music.
Agasawa first drew the manga as a one shot on Shounen Jump+ in January 2021, then began regular serialization in May 2022. The series ran for more than three and a half years and 65 chapters before ending in November 2024, with Shueisha releasing the eighth and final volume on March 4. A light novel version, illustrated by Nishima Shunhito, arrived under the JUMP J BOOKS imprint in November 2023.
English readers have been able to follow along too. Shueisha began offering the chapters in English in June 2022, and VIZ Media picked up the print license in October 2023. Its sixth volume came out on August 5, with the seventh due on November 4.
My take: An opposites attract romance lives or dies on its leads, so a careful cast really matters here. With a January start, this looks like a gentle, easy pick for the new year.
