One Punch Man Season 3 Director Quits amidst the animation Controversy
The One Punch Man Season 3 controversy has reached a boiling point, the fans are going crazy over the animation for their favorite series. After waiting for years the fans think they have the right to criticize the end product, but where do we draw the line between Hate and Criticism?
An Anime Reactor called “Nicholas Light TV” on YouTube and Twitter/X criticised and spoke some harsh words on the production team of One Punch Man Season 3. This led to a bandwagon of hate on social media against the Director Shinpei Nagai. Let’s know more about this whole chaotic case.
What happened to Director Shinpei Nagai?

The One Punch Man Season 3 isn’t clearly something we expected it would be, but at the end of the day Otakus need to understand that animators are humans too! The fandom is cruel at times like this, people hiding behind a social media profile get away with saying harsh things to hardworking individuals. Without knowing the real reasons behind the bad animation production, we can’t blame the team on social media.
Shinpei Nagai hate train started with the 2 second animation about Garou gliding down the slope, it looked more like a sliding keyframe rather than an anime scene. But that’s a mere second in the episode, this was blown out of proportion by the trolls which started a hate train against Shinpei Nagai and his team.
The Anime Reactor “Nicholas Light” made plenty of videos on Shinpei Nagai, he was in the delusion that the director was speaking about him when he was mentioning all the fans. He went on to call Shinpei as “Hentai Director” in one of his videos, despite it being a fact it can’t be ignored that the comment was made in a foul state.
Even the fans thought that Nicholas Light was being over reactive and was rage baiting people into watching his videos. When he was called out the anime tuber started blocking people, he stated that he enjoyed the attention despite the hate he caused.
One section of anime fans stood for Shinpei, but it was too late and he made a statement where he decided to quit Twitter/X! Shinpei clearly stated that the harassment was too much for him, and for his own mental peace he will stay away from Twitter forever. He won’t stop directing the anime thankfully, and doesn’t plan to retire anytime soon.
We have come across many incidents where the anime directors, mangaka, staff have commited Suicide due to the harassment from Otakus. The anime industry is one of the harshest out there, and now this plague has spread to social media.
OPM Fans P.O.V on this whole Controversy
The fans are showing support to Shinpei Nagai and calling out the moronic comments of Nicholas Light. The Otakus feel that the One Punch Man Season 3 could have been better, but they can’t bully a hardworking man just for bad animation.
Clearly Shinpei has higher ups who give big orders, he isn’t the one holding the steering wheel. But he is surely the one getting all the backlash and hate of One Punch Man Fans!
How will Bandai Namco react to this chaos?

The Anime YouTuber has mentioned that Bandai Namco has turned him into a villain despite him fueling this whole thing. Anime fans know how brutal Bandai can be, they can take down all his channels and social media accounts.
We are yet to see how the company will react to this situation, hopefully a strong action will be taken and they strike his One Punch Man Season 3 videos. If there’s one company Anime Tubers shouldn’t mess with, it’s Bandai Namco. Till then you watch the One Punch Man Season 3 on Crunchyroll and support the hardworking staff.
Conclusion:
We at Anime Meets Culture believe that harassing the hardworking director, animators, and staff is a form of social abuse. They should be praised and respected despite their shortcomings at times, the animators have a life too and at times their health is at big risks.
In this whole chaotic evil world we can show some kindness to the ones working day and night for our entertainment.
