Ghost Concert missing Songs Anime Reveals Cast and 2026 Debut
A long quiet music project is finally getting an anime. Kadokawa announced on Friday that it is teaming up with composer collective Elements Garden and studio ENGI for Ghost Concert: missing Songs, a television series set to debut in 2026. The reveal came with a teaser visual, a teaser video, the main cast, the staff, and a look at the plot.
Kadokawa describes it as a “song battle series” in the same spirit as Symphogear. Minori Fujidera voices Seria Aiba, a high school student who lives on her own and has been able to see and touch spirits since childhood. Rina Hidaka plays Cleopatra, the ancient Egyptian queen reborn as a “Great Ghost” who returns from the land of the dead and ends up possessing Seria.
Noriyasu Agematsu is credited with the original story, with UNISON and Project MiucS behind the original work. Masato Jinbo, known for the Prisma Illya films and Restaurant to Another World, is directing at ENGI and overseeing the scripts, while Masaaki Uikawa designs the characters.
As you might expect, the music sits at the center of it all. Elements Garden members Junpei Fujita, Seima Kondō, and Daisuke Horikawa are composing the soundtrack, continuing the group’s role at the heart of the franchise.
The story takes place in 2045, in a world where songs have been outlawed and a music app called MiucS handles what people used to do themselves. When Seria hears someone singing in defiance of the ban, she discovers a lone Great Ghost from beyond this world. The wider Ghost Concert project first launched in 2017 with music, live shows, and merchandise, so this anime has been a long time coming.
My take: A world that bans music is a setup with real feeling behind it, and tying it to a song driven battle series could be a lot of fun. After years of quiet, it is sweet to see this idea finally get its moment.
