One Punch Man Season 3 Director Quits X Over Animation Hate
The One Punch Man Season 3 controversy has reached a boiling point. Fans are going crazy over the animation for their favorite series. They waited years for this season. Now many feel they have every right to criticize it. But where do we draw the line between hate and fair criticism?
An anime reactor called “Nicholas Light TV” lit the fire on YouTube and X. He threw some harsh words at the One Punch Man Season 3 team. Soon a bandwagon of hate piled onto director Shinpei Nagai. Let us walk through this whole chaotic case.
What happened to Director Shinpei Nagai?

Season 3 isn’t quite what we hoped for. Still, otakus need to remember one thing. Animators are humans too. The fandom turns cruel at moments like this. People hide behind a profile and fling harsh words at hardworking staff. We also do not know the real reasons behind the rough animation. So we cannot simply blame the team online.
The hate started with a two second shot of Garou gliding down a slope. Honestly, it looked more like a sliding keyframe than a finished scene. But that is one mere second of the episode. Trolls blew it out of proportion. From there, they drove a hate train at Shinpei Nagai and his team.
“Nicholas Light” made plenty of videos about Shinpei Nagai. He convinced himself that the director was talking about him. In truth, Shinpei was simply addressing the fans. Light even called him a “Hentai Director” in one video. That comment clearly came from a foul, heated place.
Even his own viewers felt that Nicholas Light was overreacting. Many said he was rage baiting people into watching his videos. When fans called him out, he started blocking them. He even admitted that he enjoyed the attention, hate and all.
Shinpei Nagai breaks his silence
One group of fans stood up for Shinpei, but the support came too late. He soon posted a statement and chose to quit Twitter and X. The harassment, he said, had simply become too much. So he will step away for his own peace of mind. Thankfully, he is not quitting the anime. He also has no plans to retire anytime soon.
We have seen this before. Some directors, mangaka and staff have died by suicide after relentless harassment from otakus. The anime industry is already one of the harshest out there. Now that same cruelty has spread to social media.
OPM Fans P.O.V on this whole Controversy
Fans are rallying behind Shinpei Nagai and calling out the moronic comments from Nicholas Light. Sure, otakus feel Season 3 could have looked better. Even so, they refuse to bully a hardworking man over the animation.
Clearly, Shinpei has higher ups who give the big orders. He is not the one holding the steering wheel. Yet he is the one taking all the backlash from One Punch Man fans.
How will Bandai Namco react to this chaos?

The YouTuber claims that Bandai Namco has painted him as the villain. He says this even though he fueled the whole mess himself. Anime fans know how brutal Bandai can be. The company could pull down all of his channels and accounts.
For now, we wait to see how the company responds. Hopefully it acts firmly and strikes his Season 3 videos. If there is one company anime tubers should not mess with, it is Bandai Namco. Until then, watch One Punch Man Season 3 on Crunchyroll and support the hardworking staff.
My take: We at Anime Meets Culture see this harassment for what it is. Hounding a hardworking director and his team is a form of social abuse. These animators have lives, and the pressure puts their health at real risk. In a world this loud and cruel, a little kindness for the people who entertain us costs nothing.
