Anime’s Most Powerful Villain of All Time Is Wasted on This Mid Mess of a Show
J.C. Staff’s underwhelming adaptation of One-Punch Man poses a serious risk to the intensity of the Monster Association Arc, which is arguably one of the best in the manga series. The arc runs through the most unhinged clashes between monsters and heroes, and hosts a pivotal evolution for the character Garou.
The Hero-Killer Garou is a complex character who strives to become “Absolute Evil,” yet constantly fails to achieve this goal, either due to interventions from Saitama or through his contradictory actions of goodwill. In a quest to accomplish this ostensibly unreachable goal, Garou manages to attain immense power that is at risk of being unfaithfully depicted on screens.
Cosmic Garou Is Among the Most Powerful Anime Villains, and One-Punch Man May Ruin His Debut
Throughout the One-Punch Man anime, Garou embodies the concept of necessary evil. He sees himself as a rude awakening for humanity that totally depends on super-abled heroes for protection. To accomplish this goal, Garou wholeheartedly aims to become Absolute Evil, an antagonistic being beyond comprehension that evokes terror in the hearts of humans.
However, to his dismay, his efforts are effortlessly thwarted by Saitama. The depressing setback makes Garou a prime candidate to receive immeasurable power from “god,” a faceless entity that is speculated to be the final villain of the One-Punch Man series. The power-up from god births Cosmic Garou, a cosmic being with powers exceeding every hero in One-Punch Man, excluding Saitama.
Cosmic Garou exhibits raw power; he is a being capable of manipulating space-time and cosmic energy. Consequently, he can replicate the underlying cosmic mechanisms of the universe, enabling him to perform feats such as gamma-ray bursts that inadvertently create black holes.
As an unfathomably powerful villain, the One-Punch Man anime is tasked with reanimating Cosmic Garou and the moments that precede his debut. However, with One-Punch Man’s current adaptation struggles, the franchise will most likely botch the emergence of one of the most exhilarating evolutions in manga history.
One-Punch Man’s Fall From Grace Will Ruin The Progression of an Iconic Story
One-Punch Man’s most arresting quality is its refreshing originality. The anime is incomparable to other stories within or beyond the medium; therefore, it had the chance to evolve into a masterpiece comparable to Hollywood’s best productions. Unfortunately, the anime’s glaring decline augurs an end to the franchise’s stardom.
Season 3 is currently unfolding with a faux, underwhelming representation of the manga’s true nature that worsens with every episode, risking a mediocre unveiling of profound future story developments, with Garou at the epicenter. One-Punch Man’s legacy will probably never be restored, but true fans will always remember the iconic nature of the series’ opening season.
