Nikumaru’s Someone’s Girlfriend Manga Ends in Three Chapters
Shonen Sunday editor Miyakawa announced on X last Friday that Nikumaru’s manga Someone’s Girlfriend is approaching its end. The series will close out in three more chapters.
Published in English by Seven Seas, the story follows Riku, who cannot stop thinking about a girl named Shizuku. Their connection grows complicated and risky, since Shizuku is dating his best friend, and the tension simmers through their final year of high school.
Nikumaru first introduced the story as a one shot in 2021 before launching it as a regular series on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry platform in September 2022. The seventh Japanese volume arrived on August 8, while Seven Seas has been releasing it in English, reaching its fourth volume in September.
The creator has another series running too. Nikumaru’s four panel comedy Bad Girl began in December 2020, is published in English by Yen Press with its first volume due March 24, and even received a television anime that premiered on July 5.
My take: Tense, messy romances like this one can be hard to look away from. I am curious to see how Nikumaru chooses to land such a complicated love triangle in just three chapters.
