Attack on Titan Studio’s New Anime Series Finally Completes Netflix & Hulu Streaming Domination

There’s great news for fans of Yaiba: Samurai Legend. The new anime from Attack on Titan‘s Wit Studio will continue its streaming domination next month with an exciting new update.

Hulu’s press schedule reveals that Yaiba: Samurai Legend Complete Season 1B (Dubbed in English and Spanish) will arrive on the streaming platform on Nov. 21. These same episodes will also be arriving dubbed on Netflix on the same date, per the anime’s description on Netflix. The first part of Yaiba: Samurai Legend dropped earlier this year in both sub and dubbed formats, and now fans will finally be able to watch the latest batch of episodes in their preferred format. Season 1B of Yaiba: Samurai Legend finished airing in Japan on Sept. 27.

Yaiba: Samurai Legend Puts a Fresh Twist on a ’90s Anime Classic

Wit Studio’s new adaptation of Yaiba premiered in April 2025, and it marks the second adaptation of the 1988 manga by Gosho Aoyama. Yaiba tells the story of a young samurai boy raised in the forest by his father, chronicling his adventures as he crosses paths with a rival swordsman and meets several figures from Japanese history and mythology. In 1993, the now-defunct studio Pastel made a 52-episode adaptation of the story, which aired on TV Tokyo until 1994.

Wit Studio’s updated version sees several legendary anime creators coming together to introduce Yaiba to a new generation. Takahiro Hasui (Mob Psycho III) directs, while Touko Machida (Kemono Michi: Rise Up) composes. Mob Psycho 100 alum Yoshimichi Kameda worked on character designs and chief animation direction for Yaiba, with music being handled by Vinland Saga‘s Yutaka Yamada and Hell’s Paradise‘s Yoshiaka Dewa.

Earlier this year, Kameda talked about producing the new series for Wit Studio and revealed what anime viewers can expect from it. “Of course, there is a lot of action, but every episode, we move to a different location, fight a different enemy, and change the outfits and accessories,” he said.

The result is an anime that is as creatively challenging to produce as it is beautiful to watch. “[T]here are many things that need to be decided for each episode, such as drawing, finishing, art, and photography,” Kameda revealed. “Moreover, because it is a long-term work, we started broadcasting with a stock, but that stock runs out every week, so we are forced to produce the remaining number of episodes with the bare minimum, which is very thrilling.”

In addition to Yaiba: Samurai Legend and Attack on Titan, Wit Studio has notably produced many beloved anime series, including Spy x Family, Ranking of Kings and Great Pretender. The studio was also behind the first seasons of The Ancient Magus’ Bride and Vinland Saga.
