Dragon Ball Super Event Teases a Major Anime Update for April 2026
Dragon Ball fans may soon have something big to celebrate, as Dragon Ball Super anime could announce its comeback in April 2026 during the DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2026 event in Los Angeles.
The Dragon Ball Super anime ended with the Tournament of Power Saga in May 2018. Ever since, fans have been highly anticipating the TV anime’s sequel. Fortunately, while the franchise has yet to confirm it, the event information has teased a major anime update.
Dragon Ball Super Anime Might Announce Its Comeback In April 2026
Dragon Ball Super anime could announce its comeback in April 2026 during the DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2026 event. The event is set to be held on April 19-20, 2026, in Los Angeles.
As anime fans must know, the DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour is an annual event held to showcase various aspects of the Dragon Ball franchise, including stage events and tournaments.
While the event mainly centers on games, historically, it has also made announcements about the anime, including the franchise’s latest anime, Dragon Ball Daima. Hence, there has always been a chance that the event might announce a new update by Toei Animation for the TV anime.
However, this time, it seems like there is a much stronger case for Dragon Ball Super’s comeback, as the event information page has teased a major anime update.
“We will deliver the latest information and appeal of “Dragon Ball,” which continues to be developed in multiple forms including the original manga, anime, movies, games, figures, and toys, to fans around the world.”
Unfortunately, considering that the event has yet to confirm it, fans will need to take this information with a pinch of salt.
What Makes Dragon Ball Super Comeback Likely
Ever since Dragon Ball Super anime ended, fans have been hoping for Toei Animation to announce some information about the anime’s sequel season.
Instead, the franchise released two theatrical movies, Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes, and an original TV anime called Dragon Ball Daima. Therefore, a Dragon Ball Super sequel has always been on the cards. However, what makes the anime’s comeback more likely is what Akio Iyoku had to say about the Dragon Ball franchise.
Following the end of Dragon Ball Daima, Executive Producer Aiko Iyoku mentioned in an interview how the series will continue in the future.
“Did you enjoy watching Daima? Following this work, of course, we are currently working hard to move various things forward. The “Dragon Ball” series will continue from here on as well, so everyone, by all means, please keep looking forward to it.” – Akio Iyoku
While the DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour tease by itself may not be a strong enough case for an anime comeback announcement, Akio Iyoku’s words back that up. More importantly, Akio Iyoku had previously mentioned that Dragon Ball Daima wasn’t meant as a 40th anniversary celebration anime. According to him, the timing simply happened to match up.
Therefore, there is still a chance that the franchise might soon announce an anime to celebrate the occasion. Fans can only hope that the announcement be about the sequel to Dragon Ball Super.
