Shun Numa’s Super Psychic Policeman Chojo Headed to TV
Weekly Shonen Jump announced on Monday that Shun Numa’s comedy manga Super Psychic Policeman Chojo is getting a television anime in 2026. The reveal came with a teaser visual and the main staff, and Numa drew a commemorative illustration to mark the occasion.
The anime is being produced at Arvo Animation, with Junichi Yamamoto, known for Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion, directing. Hayashi Mori is supervising and writing the series scripts, while Masakatsu Sasaki handles the character designs.
The series is a breezy buddy cop comedy. It pairs an enormously powerful but lazy and self centred psychic police officer with a serious minded rookie, and much of the fun comes from their mismatched partnership as they tackle cases together.
Numa’s manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump for a little over a year before concluding, gathering a modest but fond following during its time in the magazine.
My take: A shorter manga earning an anime is always a nice surprise, and this one has a premise tailor made for laughs. With a capable team at Arvo on board, I am hopeful the comedic timing really lands.
