Crunchyroll Lands Oshi no Ko Season 3 and a Slime Film
Crunchyroll made some notable acquisitions at its New York Comic Con panel on Thursday. The biggest news for many fans is that it will stream the third season of Oshi no Ko, a series whose earlier seasons had streamed on HIDIVE.
The company also picked up the worldwide theatrical rights to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea, partnering with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring it to theaters, with specific dates still to come.
Oshi no Ko has been a major hit since the start. Its first season premiered in 2023 with a feature length opening episode and became the most successful series launch in HIDIVE’s history, followed by a popular second season in 2024. The third season is now set to stream in January 2026.
On the film side, Tears of the Azure Sea is the second movie in the Slime franchise and is scheduled to open in Japan on February 27.
Together the announcements give Crunchyroll two well loved franchises to look forward to in the new year.
My take: Bringing Oshi no Ko under the same roof as its other big titles is convenient for fans who hate juggling services. And a new Slime film on the big screen is always a treat for that warm, sprawling world.
