Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary Anime Premieres in January 2026
A new promotional video for the TV anime adaptation of Yuritaro’s Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary horror action manga series confirms the anime’s January 2026 premiere on TV Tokyo and its affiliate channels, AT-X, and WOWOW. Four new cast members for the Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary anime were revealed alongside a new key visual as well.
The new cast members include:
- Yūki Kaji as Namu
- Fukushi Ochiai as Mobuo
- Azusa Tadokoro as Akira-sensei
- Shiori Izawa as Chihiro-sensei
The anime will star Azusa Tachibana as Kaya-chan and Maaya Uchida as Chie-sensei. Hiroshi Ikehata, known for his work on 365 Days to the Wedding, is directing the Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary anime at East Fish Studio. Tarō Yamada and Hiroyuki Moriguchi are in charge of character design, and Shigeru Murakoshi handles the series scripts. Yukio Nagasaki is the sound director, and Kohta Yamamoto and Shun Narita are composing the music.
Yuritaro first launched the Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary manga Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website in April 2022. The manga just released its sixth volume in November 2024, with its seventh volume was released on June 9.
