Evangelion Anime’s Prototype Mecha Gets Major Update With New International Release
There have been countless Neon Genesis Evangelion toys over the years, with these being released by a myriad of companies. Now, one of the rising stars in toy production has added its name to the list, and the result is a figure based on the franchise’s anime movies.
The Blokees Plastic Kit Evangelion/Unit-00 model kit recreates the mecha from the film Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, and there’s a lot to love about the “Deluxe” toy. Featuring several accessories and interchangeable parts, it’s proof that Blokees was the perfect home for more Evangelion merchandise. It’s also expected to ship out just before the end of a very special year for the brand.
Evangelion Sees Out 30th Anniversary Year With New Mecha Reveal for Rei Ayanami’s Unit-00
The new Evangelion Unit-00 model kit by Blokees is based on the Kai variation seen in Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, which, like its equivalents, was piloted by fan-favorite character Rei Ayanami. Along with recreating the animated design of the mecha, the figure has five different sets of interchangeable hands to further recreate scenes from the anime movie. Other accessories include support columns, a diorama building, a restraint, launcher display stand and an umbilical cable, with these perfect for dynamic poses and action shots. The figure also has a pallet rifle, N2 guided missiles and an ESV shield, the latter of which has its own special effect attachments.
Even the hatch on the back of the model kit can be opened and closed, offering a new degree of screen accuracy. Standing at 170 mm (~6.6 inches), it contains 267 parts altogether, but this shouldn’t intimidate newcomers. Like others from the company, this Blokees kit doesn’t require paint or glue, and it can be assembled without any extra tools. It can now be ordered through the online Eva Store and the Blokees website, with the former planning to have it shipped to customers by November. 2025 marks a special year for the brand, with the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime turning 30. This has seen several collectibles and merchandise announced, and supposedly, more are coming when it comes to Blokees action figures and model kits. Along with Evangelion, Blokees has the license for numerous major brands, including Saint Seiya and Hasbro and Takara’s Transformers, among others.
