Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle Chomp Champs Closing Down at End of 2025
Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs will shut down its servers on December 31. The game will be delisted from all platforms where it is currently available starting November 1, leaving just a few months for players to get their final sessions in before the end.
Chomp Champs is a 64-player battle royale take on the classic Pac-Man formula, featuring custom matchmaking, a friend system, ranked mode, and global leaderboards. The game originally launched as Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle on Google Stadia in 2020, but became unavailable when Stadia ended its service in January 2023.
Bandai Namco brought the game back as Chomp Champs with an updated release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, and PC. Despite getting a second life on multiple platforms, the game is now heading for a final shutdown at year’s end.
Players who want to make the most of the remaining time have until the November 1 delisting to purchase the game and until December 31 to keep playing. After that, the servers close for good.
My take: It is always a little melancholy to see a game shut down, especially one that already survived one platform closure. The battle royale format with a Pac-Man twist is a fun concept, and it is a shame it did not find a bigger audience on its second run.
