Memories Off Soso Gets Fan Disc Break out of my shell for Winter 2026
MAGES. has announced a fan disc follow-up to its visual novel Memories Off Sōsō ~Not always true~, titled Memories Off Sōsō Break out of my shell. The game is planned for an early winter 2026 release in Japan on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with support for Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
Memories Off Sōsō ~Not always true~ was released earlier in 2025 to mark the 25th anniversary of MAGES.’ long-running Memories Off visual novel franchise. Mutsumi Sasaki returned from the franchise’s first two games to design the characters, Naotaka Hayashi wrote the scenario, and Takeshi Abo composed the soundtrack, as he has done consistently throughout the series and for Steins;Gate.
The Memories Off series has a long history. KID developed the original game for PlayStation in 1999, and after KID declared bankruptcy in 2006, the series passed through CyberFront before 5pb. acquired the rights in 2007. 5pb. and several other companies eventually merged into the current parent company MAGES. in 2011. The most recent main entry before Sōsō was Memories Off: Innocent Fille, which launched in Japan in March 2018.
The franchise also has a spinoff called SINce Memories: Off the starry sky, which launched in Japan in 2021 and came to Western platforms in October 2024. The series has produced five original video anime projects as well, with the most recent dating to 2006.
My take: The Memories Off series has a devoted following, and a fan disc for Sōsō shows that MAGES. is confident there is demand to spend more time with those characters. For longtime fans of the franchise, seeing this series celebrated in its 25th anniversary year with fresh content must feel genuinely meaningful.
