Ikki Tousen Extra Burst Mobile Game Ends Service on November 28 2025

The smartphone game Ikki Tousen Extra Burst has announced it will end service on November 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. JST. The game launched for iOS and Android in May 2020 and has been running for over five years. Sales of the in-game currency Dragon Orbs have already been halted, and players with unused Dragon Orbs can submit refund applications starting December 15 through March 16, 2026.

The game featured an original story with a roster of over 40 characters from the Ikki Tousen franchise, with returning voice cast including Masumi Asano as Hakufu Sonsaku, Yūko Kaida as Shimei Ryomō, Hitomi Nabatame as Unchō Kan-u, Akeno Watanabe as Hōsen Ryofu, Kei Shindō as Gentoku Ryūbi, Yuu Asakawa as Shiryū Chō-un, Mai Kadowaki as Kōmei Shokatsuryou, Eri Kitamura as Myōsai Kakōen, and Ayaka Ōhashi as Chūbou Sonken.

The Ikki Tousen franchise is based on Yuji Shiozaki’s manga, which centers on Hakufu Sonsaku, a high school student who carries a magatama that channels the spirit of Three Kingdoms warrior Sun Ce. Students from rival schools each possess their own magatama and carry the spirit of a different hero from that era. The series has spawned four television anime, five OVAs, and a spinoff manga called Shin Ikki Tousen, which has been running since 2015.

Players who still have unspent Dragon Orbs should make note of the refund window and take action before the application period closes in March 2026.

My take: Five years is a decent run for a mobile game, especially one tied to a niche franchise. It is always a little bittersweet when these games close down, particularly for players who have invested time in an original story that will not be accessible anywhere else once the servers go dark.
