Voice Actors Kaito Ishikawa and Maaya Uchida Announce They Have Married
Voice actors Kaito Ishikawa and Maaya Uchida announced on September 30, 2025 that they have gotten married. The two released a joint statement on their respective social media accounts, thanking fans and colleagues for the support that has sustained both of their careers. They described finding in each other a fellow entertainment industry professional who genuinely understands the nature of the work, and said that after spending more time together they felt strongly that they wanted to share their lives going forward.
The announcement drew nearly 4,000 combined replies at the time of publication, the vast majority of which were congratulations from fans.
Ishikawa is widely known in the anime community for voicing Tobio Kageyama in the Haikyu!! franchise, Jin “Jiji” Enjoji in DAN DA DAN, and Roid Brehm in Macross Delta, among many other roles. Uchida has become a familiar voice through her work as Catarina Claes in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, Frenda Selvelun in the A Certain Magical Index franchise, and Francesca Prelati in the Fate/ franchise, among others. The two both appeared in the anime series GATE, where Ishikawa played Takeo Kurata and Uchida played Shino Kuribayashi.
Both said they hope that married life will help them grow as people and enrich the sensibility they bring to their future performances.
My take: Two genuinely talented voice actors finding each other is a lovely piece of news for any anime fan who has grown attached to both of their performances over the years. Kageyama and Catarina in the same household is a delightfully chaotic image to sit with.
